Ex-supermodel Jerry Hall's biography won't be published

Jerry Hall, Mick Jagger's ex-wife, was supposed to publish a book with HarperCollins, on her life while the rocker shared it. The rumoured 1 million pounds deal was set to be a reveal-all, reputation-denting account of her time alongside the 56-year-old Rolling Stones singer and because of the Texan model's refusal to be a stirrer, she may have to pay-back the £500,000 advance she was given for the autobiography.

Apparently, HarperCollins found the first draft of what Hall, 52,  proclaimed she wanted to be told  "as honestly and truthfully as possible" too unsensationalist and thus, un-bankable for their liking. The revealing memoirs project which Jerry Hall took two years to write, not being revealing enough for the publishers, has been scraped.

Set to be titled "Jerry Hall : Self-Portrait", the book's appeal to the publishing house would have been anectotes about finding other models' underwear in the couple's bed, or others of the well-known womanizer's frasks. Especially his 7-years relationship with current French first lady Carla Bruni which started in 1992 while Hall was pregnant with his 3rd child, born while he eloped in Thailand with the Italian supermodel.

When they divorced in 1999, ending their 24-years-long relationship paved with the birth of 4 children together, she only got £10 million of Jagger's £200 million fortune because of their wedding ceremony in Bali having no legal status.

What do fashion heads think? Good on Jerry for not disclosing personal information on her former husband and protecting their children or what a plot to have Mick Jagger on a leech, expose HarperCollins as "cheque book publishers", help her image and thus still promote her book to other publishing houses and the general public? Or are we being paranoid? Glass half full or half empty?...

First Lady of Fashion to be the focus of a Book

4. May 2009 17:58

Fashion editor Mandi Norwood is soon to publish a book about US' First Lady Michelle Obama and her much talked-about fashion sense. The piece entitled « Michelle Style : Celebrating the First Lady of Fashion » is supposed to hit the stands on May 5. You can be sure to have a very particular insight into the style of the woman recently named one of the '100 most beautiful' by People's Magazine.

The book offers fashion advices by the subject herself and her style is analysed and explained. What makes it so special? The fact that she is just like any of us plus a few dares (like her recent controversial Lanvin sneakers choice...). It actually makes her all the more of a fashion role-model to many women. Giving its life back to the traditional American sportswear consisting of bright colors, lady-like floral prints, simple but stylish elements in noble materials, and above all, confortable clothes, most of us could look elegant into.

There is only one criticism voiced by Leah Chernikoff of the Daily News with a touch of humour : could she finish off her stylish outfits with some chic purses?

I’d just love to see her carrying a purse,” she says. “Where does she keep her lip balm?”

So check that very trendy book when it hits the shelves on May 5th (William Morrow, $19.99) for an informed point-of-view on the « First Lady of fashion »'s style!
